General Ledger Account Groups

Hierarchal account groups make it easy to set up general ledger accounts in a logical manner, while simultaneously creating the layout for financial statements.

To manage GL Account Groups, launch the GL Account Manager under the Financial group. The following form will load:

Buz Software uses a unique approach to the structure of your chart of accounts; each major account group (Assets, Liabilities, Capital, Income and Expenses) can be subdivided into sub groups in a hierarchal fashion.

There are two key advantages to this approach: First, it makes it easier to find GL accounts if they are grouped in a logical fashion. Second, the group hierarchy represents the layout of the financial statements.


Manage GL Account Groups

Add a Sub Group

  • From the tree-view on the left hand side, select the Group or Sub Group under which the new sub group will appear by clicking on the group name.
  • Click on the Add Group button.
  • Enter the name of the new sub group.
  • If the group is for current assets or current liabilities check the Current box.

  • Click on the Save button.

Edit a Sub Group

  • From the tree-view on the left hand side, select the Sub Group which you would like to edit.
  • Click on the Edit Group button. You now have two choices, change the group name or move the group. Instructions on moving a group will follow in the next section.
  • Change the group name and or toggle on or off the Current check box, and click the Save Group button.

Move a Sub Group

  • From the tree-view on the left hand side, select the Sub Group which you would like to move.
  • Click on the Edit Group button.
  • Click the Move Group button
  • Select the GL Account Group to which you wish to move the Sub Group. Click Save Group.

Delete a Sub Group

  • You can only delete subgroups which have no child subgroups or gl accounts associated with them.  Click on the group to delete.  The Delete Group button will only be enabled if the conditions above have been met.  Click on the Delete Group button to delete the group.
