Born in Scotland, Doug and his family moved to Vancouver in 1969. Doug played junior golf at Fraserview Golf Club. Doug played regularly in Zone and Provincial events and won the City Juvenile Championship in 1976. Doug played the remainder of his amateur golf as a Member of Langara Golf Club, where he was a Club Champion.

After turning professional in 1987, Doug spent seven years as an assistant at University Golf Club before moving on to become Head Professional/Manager of Operations at Seymour Creek Golf Centre in 1993.

Doug joined the team at Marine Drive Golf Club in 1999, where he has served as Junior Coordinator and coach of the Elite Junior Team from 2000 to 2003. Doug is a well rounded, experienced professional with strong teaching skills.
